The CIC nanoGUNE Consolider is formed by a physical core (the physical nanoGUNE) and a virtual one (the virtual nanoGUNE). The newly created physical section has a permanent staff (made up of the management team, the researchers, and other technical personnel, and the supporting and administrative staff), and is oriented to opening new areas of strategic research in the following areas: basic theoretical and experimental research of nanostructures and low-dimensional structures (CIC1 and CIC2 Research Groups), nanomaterials and nanostructured materials (CIC3 Research Group), nanosystems and nanoelectronics (CIC4 Research Group), and biofunctional nanoparticles and nanobiotechnology (CIC5 Research Group).
The virtual section aims at promoting the cooperation among the research groups that participate in the present programme (DIPC1, DIPC2, DIPC3, POLYMAT, TECNALIA-NANO, and IK4-NANO) and between these groups and other groups belonging to the Basque Science, Technology, and Innovation Network (RVCTI) that could be incorporated in the future. The working areas of the CIC nanoGUNE Consolider are developed by both its physical and virtual sections.
These investigations are performed not only by the research groups at the physical nanoGUNE, (CIC1-CIC5), but also by the research teams participating in the present Consolider-Ingenio program (DIPC1, DIPC2, DIPC3, POLYMAT, TECNALIA-NANO, and IK4-NANO) which together with other groups that could be incorporated in the future will make up the virtual nanoGUNE. A scheme with the links between the different groups and the priority areas is shown in the graph above.
